Sandvik Drifter Dyno
Insumbi hydraulic dyno tester is used before and after drifter repairs. All data is saved to build up a performance history on every drifter.
On first inspections we run our Drifter Dyno Tester to do initial fault finding to determine under performance and by pass hydraulic leaks.
Final Dyno once Rock drill has been repaired. Diagnostic sheet is printed and signed off by customers.

Sandvik HL1560 Rock Drill Repairs
Sandviks Hydraulic Rock Drill HL1560 also known as a Hydraulic Drifter or Hydraulic Hammer HL 1560T, 1560ST Part # (BG 003 613 94 bB). This is one of Sandviks larger and more powerfull (33kw) Rock Drills in the market, the HL1560T – HL1560ST Drifter is used on Sandviks Top Hammer drill rig called the Pantera DP1500i for surface mines – quarries and Construction sites.

Supplier of New and Reconditioned HL1560 Drifters
When a drifter has been completely destroyed (Catastrophic failure) the customer has the option either to repair the drifter or purchase either a new HL1560 drifter or trade in their old destroyed drifter for a recon drifter.
All drifters supplied by Insumbi Technical Business are dyno tested on our in house hydraulic test bench and comes with OEM equivalent warranties.
HL1560 Dyno Test
All Drifter repairs on completion are dyno tested. We simulate working pressures and flow. Our hydraulic test bench allows us to identify failures and low performance. All drifters are signed off on completion by our customer or a engineer.
Drifters that are repaired or supplied by Insumbi are placed on a maintenance schedules, where we keep all records of the drifter. This allows us to build a history file of every drifter that comes into our factory. And hold certain parts for quick repair times.
Hydraulic Orbital Motor Repair:

What is a hydraulic Drifter?
You get two main types of Drifters also known as a Rock Drill – Hydraulic Drifter and Pneumatic Drifter (air). In this article we will be focusing on the HYDRAULIC DRIFTER used on Drill Rigs for Surface and Underground mining activities.
A hydraulic Drifter or Rock Drill is a high frequency hammer that uses shock wave transmission (Percussion), Rotation torque and water/air flushing to allow a drill bit to penetrate rocks. With years of advancement in materials and hydraulic technology there isn’t a cheaper, safer and faster way to drill into rocks to depths of 2m to 24m vertically or horizontally.

There are two main types of Drill rigs that use hydraulic drifters, Top hammer drills: Crawler drills that are used for opencast mining; and Drill jumbos that are used for operations such as tunnel and production drilling. Both types are mainly used to drill holes for charging explosives for blasting or roof support for safety.

Also know as bore diameter (Internal Diameter): Hole Diameter varies depending on application, drifter power (kw) and rock hardness. On average hydraulic drifter can drill holes diameters ranging from +/- 24mm to 178mm.

The new, Top Hammer XL drilling system consists of Pantera™ DP1600i drill rig, RD1840C rock drill and LT90 rock tools. It expands the limits for top hammer drilling, allowing you to drill blast holes from 140 to 178 mm (5½ to 7″) with the top hammer drilling method.
It fits perfectly for production drilling in large quarries or open pit mines.

The RD1840C Rock drill is Sandviks most powerful drifters on the market. 49 kW drilling power! Its robust design and well-balanced long piston percussion package are made especially for demanding circumstances. The long piston technology generates high-impact energy with optimum pulse form. This provides perfect drilling performance in large hole drilling without compromising the rock tools’ service life. The geometry and physical dimensions of the RD1840C rock drill have been optimized for the Top Hammer XL drilling system.
